- Introduction:
You can protect yourself from spamming by registering your
nick and set it /mode nick +R.
When you have done this, no one with an unregistered
nickname can query you. Since most spammers haven't
registered their nicks, it is a very secure method.
- Instructions:

1. Step:
Register your nick by typing /nickserv register passwordofyourchoice
youremailaddress. For example /nickserv register noideawhatpassword
quizfan@yahoo.com You'll get a mail from DALnet where
further steps are explained for registration. (So notice:
your e-mail adress HAS to be a real one!)
2. Step:
When you join DALnet, type /identify noideawhatpassword for
identifying your nick.
3. Step:
After having joined #quiz, type /mode yournick +R - make sure
it is a CAPITAL R!
Protection is on now! Congratulations! ;-)
If you want to talk again to someone without a registered nick, the
command would be: /mode yournick -R
You can let mIRC automatically identify your nick, also automatically
let mIRC set your nick on +R!
Go to 'Options', then 'IRC' and then 'Perform' where you should check:
'On connect, perform these commands:' and a Dialog-box where you type
the following:
| /identify noideawhatpassword | - which will identify your nick automatically when you connect to DALnet |
| /mode yournick +R |
which will set your nick-mode on +R after having identified. |
If you have several registered nicknames, you can also add them in to
the other commands. So it would perhaps look like this in the end:
| /identify noideawhatpassword |
| /mode yournick +R |
| /mode secondnick +R |
You can also add your favourite #channel and will join automatically
if you type:
/join #quiz
